Mitchell grew up in his family's hardware store in Cleveland,
Ohio where he worked from age 12 alongside his father and
grandfather. During his twenty years at Estrin Hardware,
Mitchell developed his love of tools, customer service
skills, and vast knowledge of the detailed inner workings
of a house. Equipped with these abilities, he moved to
Vermont in 1994 and started working with Malcolm on an
avante garde project outside of Montpelier.
Over the years, Mitchell has done most things on a job
site including contracting, plumbing, electrical, framing,
and finish work. Although he is a man of many talents,
nothing compares to Mitchell's master tile work. He has
developed a unique feel for and love of the material, particularly
natural stone, and his work is an aesthetic highlight in
a number of Montpelier Construction projects.
"Working
with these materials allows me to be very creative. I really
enjoy helping my clients find new and distinct ways to use
natural materials in their homes."
Mitchell became a Certified Energy Efficiency Home Specialist
for Efficiency Vermont in 2007 and consults with clients
regularly on how to improve their homes' energy performance.
He
lives with his family in Plainfield, Vermont where Mitchell
built their home in 2005 using local, natural materials.
Their home has received a Five Star Plus energy efficiency
rating.
