Nick, a master carpenter specializing
in cabinets and trim, likes to replicate what he sees. "I
think it's cool to take a rough piece of wood and make
it into something."
His most recent piece de resistance is a 1,500 bottle wine cellar built
from Spanish cedar.
Nick's love of woodworking developed early on when he helped
his dad with remodeling and renovations. In high school he
spent most of his time in the woodshop. After he graduated
in 1999, he migrated west in search of deep powder and landed
his first woodworking job in a commercial production woodshop
in Fort Collins, Colorado building vanities, bureaus, built-ins,
and commercial kitchens.
Two years later
he returned to Vermont and found work in an architectural millwork shop making
high-end kitchens and furniture for high profile clients like the producer of
the 80's sitcom Cheers.
While he derives satisfaction from creating something out
of a rough piece of wood, he also acknowledges the importance
of customer satisfaction. "I like being
able to help people out and make their home a nicer place."
When he's not using a router, Nick's out on a local golf
course practicing his swing.
